Luxury Rehab vs. Traditional Rehab: Which Is Right for You?
I don’t want to go to rehab!I don’t have time to go to rehab! What will I tell people?I will lose my job/career if I go to rehab. ~ Many People
The road leading to recovery has many roadblocks. First of all, the very nature of the disease of addiction tells the affected person that they are not inflicted. Denial is the hallmark symptom of alcoholism and other forms of addiction. Guess what? People that are not alcoholic never try to convince themselves or others that they are not alcoholic. So, when a person knows and admits that they need help to stop and stay stopped, hallelujah! Because many addicts never make it that far. They fill the obituaries, prison halls and psych wards.
So what about the ‘high bottom’, high functioning alcoholic who knows he or she has a problem, but no one else knows? These high-powered individuals may face different issues in getting help for their addiction. It is not about the investment costs for recovery, but more about the challenge of staying at work and keeping appearances up. Yes, recovery is all about getting honest, but practically speaking, telling your clients or your competition that you are off to rehab for a couple of months could mean the death of your career as you know it. Like it or not, addiction does still carry a stigma. When recovery and sobriety are solid, often people are happy to share about it, but in the early, more vulnerable stages, we recommend keeping your personal life private.
Another option is having Rehab come to you. Yes, that’s right, rehab can come to you. It is not for everybody, but it can work. Under the right circumstances, the team at Serenity Vista can arrange to come where you are. You will go about your regular business as usual. There will be therapy and counseling sessions scheduled around what works for you with skilled therapists. Some meals and recreational activities will be spent with one or more members of the team, using all of your time wisely to get as much information and support as possible. You will get a therapist, a drug and alcohol counselor, a sober coach, and a confidential recovery connection in your own community. If it makes sense under your individual circumstances, there is the added bonus of having the family involved in some of the work. This is a fairly unconventional and new concept, but it does work if the person is ready for recovery and simply can not get away to rehab treatment.
The investment cost of having a rehab team come to you for recovery will vary, but it will be comparable to the cost of a high end rehab. At Serenity Vista, we believe that getting away from your everyday life to a retreat environment for rehab is ideal, but we also know that can’t work for everyone. Having the team come to you can work. Contact Serenity Vista for more information on how we can best help you recover. We will individualize what works best for you with treatment options ranging from travelling to tropical get-away Panama, to sober coaching, and a customized travelling therapist recovery plan with a sober companion.
